
How do I register?
Click on any of the ‘Sign Up’ buttons on the website and this will take you through to the first page of the registration form. You will then need to connect with JustGiving, by creating an account or logging into an existing account, so we can create your Mighty Miles fundraising page. Once you are connected, fill out the rest of the registration form then click submit. This completes your registration and you will be taken to your Mighty Miles fundraising page.
How do I access my fundraising page?
You can view your fundraising page at any point by clicking the ‘Login’ button at the top of the website, and then the account button.
Is there a registration fee?
No, it’s free to take part in the Mighty Miles challenge.
When do I have to sign up by?
This challenge runs all year round so there is no deadline to register.
How many miles do I have to hike?
It’s completely up to you! You can choose the distance, terrain and difficulty of your hike to suit your abilities and the ability of your group.
Can children take part?
Yes, under 18s are welcome to take part but will need an adult to register on their behalf as we can only communicate with people aged 18 or over.
If you are hiking with under 18s please make sure you factor this into the planning for your hike and make sure the route is suitable.
Can dogs take part?
Yes, dogs can take part. If you do hike with a dog please make sure you factor this into the planning for your hike, as some areas do not allow dogs and you must be careful around livestock. The countryside code has more guidance around hiking with dogs.
Where can I get help to plan my hike?
We have collated lots of useful tools and information to help you plan your hike on our Resources page on this website. Once you have registered for the Mighty Miles challenge, we will also email you with lots of expert advice to support with planning, training and health and safety.
How do I record my hike?
You can log your hike on your profile page, where you can earn milestone badges. Your profile page is created for you when you register for the Mighty Miles challenge. You can add your hike manually or you can connect your Strava account following these instructions and sync activity directly to your profile.
Can I hike in a team?
Yes, absolutely! You can register on behalf of your team and have one JustGiving page, or all register individually to have your own JustGiving page which you can link together. Just make sure you are always following the most recent government guidelines around meeting up with people outside your household and exercise.
Can I fundraise in a team?
Absolutely. When you register for the Mighty Miles challenge, your JustGiving page will be created automatically. You will then have the option to create or join a team page which will link all the pages of everyone in your team and show the total raised between you. You will also feature in the team leader board.
How do I fundraise?
When you register for the Mighty Miles challenge, your JustGiving page will be created automatically. You can share your page with friends, family and colleagues who can make donations easily online. You can personalise your page to make it your own with your picture and story about why you’re hiking miles for Macmillan.
How do I pay in my fundraising?
Any donations you receive on your JustGiving page will come automatically to us, so it’s completely hassle free!
The best way to pay in cash donations is to bank them and then make a payment from your debit/credit card to your own profile page, but please note you won’t be able to claim Gift Aid if you do this. Alternatively you can email us and we can support you with other ways to get the money to us, but the amount won’t show on your profile page.
How much do I have to raise?
There is no minimum fundraising pledge, we just ask to you to raise as much as you can to support people living with cancer. Click here to see our list of fundraising ideas to help you get started.

What are the fundraising incentives?
We have incentives* in place to celebrate when you reach certain fundraising milestones on your individual JustGiving page:
- When you reach £31, you will be sent a free Macmillan hiking top in the post. This amount could help fund a Macmillan nurse for an hour.
- When you reach £217, you will receive a Mighty Miles medal in the post. This amount could run one of our small Cancer Information and Support Centres for a day.
- When you reach £372, you will receive a Macmillan bobble hat in the post. This amount could run our Online Community forum for a day.

How do I get a t-shirt?

How do I get a medal?
Everyone who completes their Mighty Miles challenge will receive a virtual medal to share on social media. If you reach £217 on your JustGiving page, you will also be sent a physical Mighty Miles medal in the post. This amount could run one of our small Cancer Information and Support Centres for a day.
What badges can I earn?
On your JustGiving page you will earn badges as you get closer to your fundraising target and when you hit each fundraising incentive, as well as a badge when you complete your Mighty Miles challenge!
What’s the difference between Mighty Miles and a Mighty Hike?
Mighty Miles is for people who want to organise their own hiking challenge, in any location and any distance, to raise money for Macmillan.
